The McCord • Brown Golf Academy
The McCord Brown Golf Academy at Orange Lake Golf offers year-round instruction for players of every skill level, from true beginners to competitive golfers. Located on the practice range at The Reserve, the academy combines PGA instruction, launch-monitor technology, and a structured lesson program in a relaxed resort setting.
Philosophy & Goals
The McCord Brown Golf Academy is built on a simple idea: golf instruction should be customized, fun, and effective.
- Lessons are tailored to each student’s body, goals, and physical limitations—there is no “one-size-fits-all” swing model.
- Instructors work with what you can do today and build a repeatable motion around it.
- The first goal is that golf becomes more enjoyable and less frustrating.
- The second goal is that if you invest in professional instruction here, you see measurable improvement using the academy’s methodology.
The academy’s mission is to provide high-quality, PGA-level instruction that is also affordable and accessible to resort guests, HICV owners, juniors, and local players.
Private Lesson Options & Pricing
All lessons are scheduled with McCord Brown Golf Academy instructors and take place on the practice facilities at The Reserve. Pricing is subject to change and does not include tax unless otherwise noted.

- HICV Timeshare Owner Rate: $129
- 60 minutes of one-on-one instruction with a PGA professional
- Ideal for full swing, short game, putting, or a mix based on your goals
- Standard Rate: $250
- HICV Timeshare Owner Rate: $170
- 60 minutes of shared instruction for two players
- Great for couples, friends, or family members who want to learn together
- Rate: $95 per person
- Designed specifically for players 17 and under
- Focus on fundamentals, fun, and building long-term skills
Clinics & Group Instruction
If you prefer to learn in a group setting, the academy offers daily clinics that cover core areas of the game—full swing, chipping, pitching, bunkers, and putting. Clinics are open to resort guests, owners, and local players, subject to availability.

John Brown, PGA
PGA Master Professional | Director of Instruction
John Brown is the Brown Golf McCord Academy Director of Instruction. He is a member of the PGA of America and has attained the PGA’s highest level of excellence, PGA Master Professional.
Mr. Brown is also one of a small number of PGA Professionals who have also attained the PGA’s Advanced Certification in the Art of Golf Instruction. He has provided around 100,000 golf lessons throughout his career to golfers of all skill levels, most notably numerous Club Champions, 5 State Champions, 3 Junior World Champions, dozens of Scholarship Collegiate Golfers, and numerous Tour level Touring Professionals.
Mr. Brown excels in his ability to help new and improving golfers to learn and enjoy the great game of golf. He is a big proponent in the use of video and launch monitor technology with his instruction and is a Certified Professional Club Fitter.
Britton Mullis, PGA
PGA Golf Professional | Instructor
Britton Mullis is a Class A Golf professional who graduated from the PGM program at Methodist University. Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina he relocated to the Orlando area and is excited to join the McCord-Brown team.
Britton has taught all types of golf lessons, clinics and golf camps to golfers of all ages over his career as a PGA member. He has a passion for teaching and growing the game of golf.

Britton Mullis is a Class A Golf professional who
graduated from the PGM program at Methodist University. Originally from
