Danny Mapes is an MGA certified and adaptive golf certified instructor here at the Brown Golf McCord Academy. Originally from West Fargo, North Dakota, Danny graduated from the Golf Academy of America Orlando in 2016, receiving his degree in golf complex operations and management.
Danny was born with Spina Bifida, a birth defect in which there is incomplete closing of the spinal cord and membranes. He has overcome this challenge and over the years, has found his own unique way to play and teach golf. He is a self-taught golfer who started playing at age 13 with his older brothers. In September 2016, Danny began teaching weekly junior golf classes, and was the director of a junior golf program for kids with special needs for nearly three years. He has been a certified adaptive golf instructor since January 2017.
Danny received his McCord Golf Academy instructor certification in 2018 and he specializes in teaching golfers with disabilities. He strongly believes that golf is a game anyone can play, regardless of any challenges they may have to overcome.
